Horticultural Grower

The Grower position supports daily farm operations to ensure optimum quality product for our clients. Activities will include, but are not limited to: planning, seeding, watering, transplanting, harvesting, cleaning, and managing all aspects of growing a crop including plant health and indoor farm environment assessments.

This is a Thurs to Mon, or Fri to Tues position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in an indoor vertical farm, with a wide array of irrigation, media, crops, and lighting experiments
  • Help modify nutrient regiments for the aquaponic system
  • Conduct seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and cleaning procedures for different crops
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Perform daily water testing
  • Quantify and qualify data regularly
  • Maintain accurate daily activity records and operation logs as directed
  • Daily sanitation and organization of all equipment present within the facility
  • Communicate effectively
  • Facility maintenance and trouble-shooting as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Prior agricultural experience and a passion for the industry is required
  • Post secondary education in the sciences is strongly preferred
  • Specific knowledge of nutrients and plant science
  • Experience farming or growing in controlled environments
  • Knowledge of horticultural equipment or aquaponic systems is an asset
  • Capable of performing routine management and able to make equipment repair or notify proper personnel when unable to
  • Experience with water sampling and general laboratory testing (pH, EC, nutrient testing, etc.)
  • Must be comfortable with heights and working at heights
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a time, and learn new technologies
  • Self-starting, detail-oriented, independent worker with demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
